The first few days

16 hrs hanging in mid air... with 2 hrs of sleep and 12 hrs of televsion later I found myself in chicago airport, i had to go through immigrations and customs and finally check in my luggage again for my flight to Hoston. Then it hit me, i was finally going to be working and that can be sometimes spine chilling, especially if everything you've ever done has come to you easily, because you know that won't happen any longer!!
Anyways, as emotional as that story is, its not for now. The airport was bigger than anything I had seen before, it was FREAKIN' BIG!!! I had to take a train to the domestic terminal, for crying out loud!!! As I made my way to my gate I saw many stores and stopped at one to get somethng to eat-$4.50 for a coffee and cookies!! when you convert that to Rs. its like 200 bucks for peanuts!!!! Shit this was expensive, so I made up my mind to spend little, but thats easier said than done, so I adapted!! I stopped converting!!
Well my flight to houston from chicago got delayed, since only one domestic runway could be used due to high sheer winds so we ended up being an hr late. Which was ok if you had not been already travelling for the past 18 hrs. Though this did make me feel more like India, and I was a little comfortable again!!!!
Once i reached Houston, it was pretty easy getting a ride to my hotel on the free cab for schlum people. I just slept that whole day! The first week went by, and the details of that will come in another blog, so lets just say i had freakin great time!!!!
Then we went to Tulsa from there for the vehicle training, which kinda messed up my travel plans as i did not clear their test, so had to stay on for a few more days of training. then i went to calgary from there and was it shit cold! it was -15 degC with windchill taking it to -20degC, which for those who don't know is VERY COLD!!!!!! and those who know me, would also know my aversion to cold! so well i managed somehow walking around in downtown for an hour or 40 min in the middle of a snowfall! It was cool!
well i got one free day there and i watched "dukes of hazzard" and "transporter 2", both pretty decent movies! After which I slept some more, knowing fully well that I might not get to sleep much, once i got to my final location. The next day morning I left for St. johns, it was supposed to leave at 1005am but left at 1045 and thiswas an 8 hr flight which made it all the more worse, with 2 stops one in toronto and another in halifax, i just did not have time to even stroll around in the airport for a while, coz ppl were disembarked and then other ppl boarded and we took off! This was an attempt to offset the initial delay but alas, it only snowballed!!
but finally made it to St. Johns!!
Here I am finishing this from my office on the very first day!!

hi
keeping the tradition of a true friend, i submit yet another stream of comments to your blog. Well, when you said that it is cold, i understood the chill that a -20 degree wind brings to hari krishna dutt, it is indeed chiller than the -20 degrees that it records. Well, do wear gloves, you skin is prone to cracking. Well, that might not be a problem as your hands would be immersed in greasy stuff all the time. So, i say this is a good job for you in th end. A meta job (which is if something like a meta job does exist) would have been disaster. Keep posting. I will also soon start a blog, and you better comment on it.
